The Archive of Austrian Repression and Complicity exposes censorship, silencing, and repression in Austria’s cultural and academic fields, especially around solidarity with Palestine. Emerging in 2024 from collective archival practices inspired by Germany’s Archive of Silence, it treats archiving as both political and artistic resistance. Built without institutional funding, it relies on the labor and risks of many contributors and activist networks. The archive highlights how institutions suppress Palestinian voices and those who stand with them, while also creating a record for collective memory and emancipatory futures.
