Obergefell v. Hodges

The Supreme Court case Obergefell vs. Hodges finally legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states in 2015. After Ohio native Jim Obergefell sued his state for the permission to be listed as the surviving spouse on his terminal ill husband's certificate, justices ruled 5-4 that same-sex marriage is a constitutional right guaranteed under the Fourteenth Amendement.
